Fernald Closure ProjectFernald Site
SME Chapter 21 is happy to invite you to our annual family event. This year we will tour the historical Fernald Closure Project. Fernald is a former uranium processing facility that underwent environmental remediation and has been turned into a nature preserve. We will tour the Visitor's Center which will tell the story of this piece of land as it relates to the native americans, settlers, farmers, weapons production, clean up and its recent transformation as a nature preserve.
